Part 1: The Introduction

With the earthly death of Odin and the other Norse Gods, life for them did not end. Upon entering the gates of Valhalla, the “Protector” asked each if they would like a second chance at life. A life of great importance. By day, they would be mere stone statues, keeping watch over the spiritual building in which they were perched. But, at night, they would come to life to protect the city and all of its inhabitants from the demon world. The evil fallen who were lead on earth by Fenrir.

Night has fallen as Linda sat reading her book in the café. She looks up and takes a sip of coffee, as a man approaches. He introduces himself as Ludvik Vidar. Linda notices how handsome the stranger is, and his thick Norwegian accent.

She reaches up to take his hand, and says, “I’m Linda.” She then adds, “Very nice to meet you.”Ludvik smiles as his hand closes in on hers. However, when their skin touches he quickly pulls his hand away. His expression on his face changes to concern and he states, “I must go.” He then hands Linda a small piece of paper. She examines it, and in very neat script he has written, his name and phone number. Linda takes the paper, and places it in the back of her book, then pretends to return to reading her book. Ludvik smiles once again, and as he leaves his cheerful carefree demeanor has returned. The feeling of terror he felt when touching Linda having been stored away, for later He throws the comment over his shoulder, “call me some night Linda.” Linda looks up from her book in time to see him wink at her, then he is gone. Linda smiles to herself at this unusual encounter, with such a beautiful man. She orders another coffee, and resumes her reading.

Dark Streets

The wind blew cold down the snow covered streets of Chesterfield, reaching its icy fingers around collars to maliciously tickle unwary pedestrians. A young mother quickly pushes a baby carriage through the wintery weather, as she uneasily glances at the dark alley that lays between her and the inviting door of her brownstone. The menace blew colder than the wind, as she saw, dark shapes loitering within. She quickens her pace, as a large shape heads in her direction. Her heart beat begins to pound out of her chest. She suddenly stops, feeling frozen in place by fear. She reaches in the stroller, and produces from under her child, a cross. As the figure nears her and her baby, she places herself in front of the stroller, holding up the cross, so she is a barrier between what evil is nearing her and her child. A man steps from the shadows, tips his hat, and turns back out onto the street. The woman slumps over in relief, then quickly stuffs the cross back in the stroller, and resumes a speedy pace, to her front door.
She manages to get the stroller up the few steps, and onto the landing near the front door, as she glances up, once again seeing something small heading up the alleyway she just crossed in front of. She fumbles with the buttons on the front door trying to press in the entry code. She finally gets it right, and swings open the front door, pushing the stroller in as she does. She stands staring through the glass door, as the small figure comes into light. It is a dog. Suddenly the large man has returned, and is barreling down on the dog. The woman becomes frantic for the small animal. She opens the door just a crack, and calls in the small dog, she then scoops it up and pushes the stroller quickly across the floor, heading towards the elevator. She presses the button to the penthouse, and as she stands frantically waiting, the man reaches the glass door. He begins pounding on the glass, demanding she open it. She turns her back, as the elevator sounds its arrival. As the doors slide open, the man manages to bust the glass and come storming in. She tries her best to get herself, the stroller and the little dog onto the elevator, and the door closed, before he reaches them. However, he is quick. He reaches in and snatches from her hand the small dog, as the elevator doors shut.
She is then forced, to ride all the way up to her penthouse apartment, scared for the safety of the little dog, herself, and her child. She finally arrives, after what seems an eternity, and quickly exits the elevator. She pushes the stroller quickly to her front door, and manages to unlock it, with her shaking hand. She picks up her child, and the cross, and steps across the threshold. She then replaces her cross, above the door frame, to keep out evil.
The woman, then heads to the child’s room, and places the boy, in the basinet. She quickly returns to the door, where she hears a scratching noise. She looks out through the peephole, to find, in front of her the small dog, standing whimpering covered in blood. She begins unlocking the deadbolt, when an uneasy feeling sweeps across her. She slowly slides off the chain, and cracks the door enough for the small dog to enter. However, when it comes forward, something stops it before it can enter the apartment. A force field. The dog tries again and again. Each time its face slams into the force field, it changes, and after the fifth time, it no longer appears to even be a dog. The creature it has become snarls and bites, trying its best to get in. The woman then slams the front door shut. She locks it back. She opens the peephole and watches as the creature turns into The Devil Himself.
